How to apply for The Habitat Housing Program

Erath County Habitat for Humanity is now accepting applications for home partnership.

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian housing ministry and we are pledged to the achievement of equal housing opportunities for families living in Erath County, Texas. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.

If you wish to be notified by email when applications will be accepted, please send an email to earthcountyhabitat@outlook.org. Include “Notify me when accepting applications” in the subject line. Please include your name, phone number, and acknowledgement that you have read and are able to meet the Habitat Partner Requirements.

TO BECOME A HABITAT HOMEOWNER, YOU MUST BECOME A HABITAT PARTNER BY MEETING THESE REQUIREMENTS:

1. You must be living in inadequate or substandard housing conditions which include over-crowded living conditions and are unable to obtain a loan through conventional financing.

2. You must be willing to Partner with Habitat. This means that the family must put in 300 hours of Sweat Equity working to help build their home along with other Habitat volunteers. Families are also required to attend seminar hours which also count toward Sweat Equity.

3. Partner families must be willing and able to make regular monthly mortgage payments on the home and make a down payment. Mortgage payments normally run for a period of 20 to 30 years. No interest is charged on the mortgage loan.

4. Applicants must meet income limits and debt to income ratios to be considered for home ownership. There is a $42 credit check fee due when applications are submitted.
